I've got an opportunity to do a bit of work for a big company but they insist on CRB checks. I was wondering if you can get your own done or if you need the prospective employer to do it for you?

When your employer gets one done, a copy is sent to you.

You can not get your own done for there files, they need to get it done themselves.

You can get your own done though, for charity work ect.

Sorry, thats wrong, you can not get it done yourself, but a charity ect can do it for you for a fee. Normally about £25

Hmmm. Thanks for the advice. I don't suppose I have much to worry about as I have a FAC, but I still don't want these people seeing spent convictions.

If your upfront its fine..

My mate had football violence from about twenty years ago.. They never held it against him.. Works in accute mental health with vunreble adults 18-65

Knew a lass that got kicked out of uni after CRB was done, she tried to jump a train and got a theft charge had she been upfront and explained it it should of been ok but if you dont it makes it more sinister and like you were dishonest. She was training to be social worker..
